My name is Samantha M. Forbes and I am honoured to share that I am one of your Presidential candidates for the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
My campaign is grounded in a simple belief: Ubuntu.
Ubuntu teaches that “I am because we are.” It reminds us that our strength as a faculty does not come from individual success alone, but from the way we support one another, uplift one another, and grow together.
Across the Faculty of Medical Sciences , Basic Medical Sciences , Physiotherapy, Radiology, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and MBBS, we all face long hours, demanding coursework, and moments where the journey can feel overwhelming. Yet time and time again, I have seen the power of our community when we choose to look out for one another.
Whether through student support initiatives, wellness programmes, tutoring sessions, or spaces that bring us together, my goal has always been the same: to build systems that make it easier for students to thrive.
This campaign is not about one person. It is about all of us.
I look forward to sharing more about the vision I have for our faculty and listening to the ideas and concerns of students across FMS.
Because in this faculty, and in this profession we are preparing for, we succeed Better Together.
